The Reason For Antisemitism?
The Reason For Antisemitism?
I believe that the cause of what is commonly referred to (today) as "antisemitism" is the fact that the Christ, the Messiah, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, the Son of God Himself, came through the line of the Jews. I also believe that this evil dynamic (of "antisemitism") has been in effect (at least) ever since God established the Messianic line through Seth (in Gen. 4:25). Ever since then, Satan and his (even human) hoard has sought (without success) to destroy the Holy Seed.
No other explanation for antisemitism makes sense to me--than this one I give (above). . . . The fact is that all of us fallen sinners--including (obviously) all the unregenerate Jews and Gentiles in the world--have an inherent and inveterate hatred of the True God; and we, in our flesh, loathe the fact that He (God) had the audacity to send His own beloved Son into this world, to claim it as His own, and to establish His true kingdom (church) here.
All other attempted explanations fall far short of accounting for the knee-jerk, irrational, mindless, and demonic existence of antisemitism. The "usual suspects" do not add up: whether it is jealousy, or greed, or ignorance, or stupidity, or resentment, etc.
Ironically, the only answer to the horrible problem of antisemitism, is the Christ of the gospel of free grace and mercy (in His blood atonement for sinners). Also very ironically, the Jews' only real friend in the fallen world is the redeemed/regenerated church of Jesus Christ. In fact, the unbelieving Jews themselves--whether they consciously realize it, or not--loathe themselves for being the vehicle through which God sent His Son into the world.
If you are like me, you are very fond of Jewish people; and you find them delightful, interesting, and friendly. There are a lot of Jews who do not really understand the gospel; and they have (understandably) accepted (probably without investigation) false arguments against the true religion. These people are prime candidates for the good news; and we should love them tenderly, as we share the glories of Jesus with them.
As mentioned above, I personally do not "buy" any of the world's explanations for antisemitism; and I also fully-recognize that all the Jewish people's own ardent efforts to protect themselves from harm and/or devastation, though understandable, are completely futile. There is nothing that the State of Israel or anyone else can do, to protect them. Their only hope--like it is for all of us--is the Lord Jesus Christ.
None of what I said above should be misunderstood; and it needs to be stated that unregenerate Christians are also antisemitic; (even unregenerate "dispensational" Christians are antisemitic). Indeed, everybody outside of Jesus--Jew and/or Gentile--is "antisemitic." This "antisemitism" has nothing inherently to do with the Jews--it has everything to do with Jesus Christ.
And this fact (above) also explains why the true Israel, the Israel of God (Gal. 6:16b)--those Jews and Gentiles who now make up the one redeemed church of Jesus--get a lot worse persecution than unbelieving Jews do. This is not to deny the fact that unbelieving Jews are persecuted--but regenerate Jews and Gentiles, who now constitute God's one people and community, get far worse persecution than anyone else.
The Apostle Paul's words of 2 Tim. 3:12-13 help prove this point. Here they are: "Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived," (ESV).
None of this should alarm us, surprise us, or cause us any fear. All those who are in Christ Jesus are safe in the embraces of the Father of the one Jew/Gentile church. Let us welcome everyone else into it. There is no other secure harbor or place to be found on the fallen Earth.
