The Singular and Superior Greatness of The Christian Religion

The Singular and Superior Greatness of The Christian Religion

I would rather use the term, "Kingdom of God [or Christ]," but this title (above) has an even-broader appeal in the world (generally)--so, it will suffice.

The point I wish to make, is that ever since our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ poured out the Blessed Holy Spirit on the church at Pentecost, the world has never been the same; and the changes are dramatic in the extreme.  And ALL of this is because of the expanding nature of Christ's churched Kingdom.

Whereas darkness and constitutional idolatry covered the earth before the outbreak of the Kingdom of God--now, everything has been affected by it (the Kingdom).  All of this is a result of the Spirit's work in the elect children of Christ's church.

We all know the very common, but frankly ignorant objections to the singular superiority of the Christian religion; do we not?  How often do we hear, "Oh, but Columbus brought a plague to Hispaniola"; or, "Yes, but do you not remember how the Native Americans were (very often) mistreated?"; or, "What about the Salem witch trials?"?  We could go on and on; but here is the big difference: what other religion have you ever heard actually confess wrong, and try to remedy it? . . . [I am waiting . . . I did not think so.  I cannot think of one, either.]

On top of this, where would you rather live--in the United States (for example), where Christianity has had a huge impact for many years; or a Muslim country, where you would be under Satan's last-gasp efforts to destroy you?  Why is it, that people of all other religions tend to seek to enter historically-Christian nations?  Because they are not stupid; they know their lives there will be infinitely better, than the non-Christian cultures from which they came.

It is always a little amusing, to hear people complain about the perceived (or even real) wrongs they experience in Christianized lands.  Have fun making those complaints in the cultures from which you have come(!)

Now, none of this is meant to "excuse" sin or wrongdoing amongst Christians or the cultures that have been so shaped by the Christian faith.  On the contrary, we are the only ones who have the right, integrity, and honor to admit wrong, to own it, and to do something about it.

ALL the nations of the world, without exception, have been profoundly impacted by Christianity.  There are no exceptions to this rule; and even those who seek to "distance" themselves from Christianity's reach, only find themselves (in fact) seeking to imitate it (albeit unknowingly and unwittingly).

The fact that nearly 2000 years have passed since Pentecost, has the impact of "numbing" in our natural minds the glories of the transformation that has come upon the fallen earth since the Resurrection, Ascension, and Session of Jesus; and the pouring-forth of the Spirit on the church at Pentecost.

So, the next time you might be tempted to get a little fearful about what is happening in the world; or the next time you get confronted with the ignorance of "theologies" that ascribe all of Christ's greatness to a future time--remember the promises of God.  Here is one from Daniel, for good measure: "I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed," (Dan. 7:13-14/ESV).
