All Divine Miraculous Healing Is Through Christ

All Divine Miraculous Healing Is Through Christ

When we read the four Gospel accounts (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), we are astounded at the vast numbers of human beings that our blessed Lord Jesus Christ cured (of every kind of disease, etc.).  Galilee and Judea were largely made the most physically healthy places that the Earth ever saw, following the Fall of Man into sin.

One could argue that the hospitals, prompt care units, counseling centers, and (even) funeral homes were given a respite from their ordinary routines.  Myriads of people--all sinners in Adam--thronged around Jesus, to be relieved of their blindness, sickness, deafness, dropsy, withered limbs, muteness, leprosy, blood-flows, and demon-possession.  It is astonishing, to think about how many bodies and souls were healed by the Messiah of God.

But, what I want to emphasize in this short paper, is the fact that all healing that is ever done by God--even today--is done through the mediation of Jesus Christ.  It is incorrect, to think that God heals in any other way.  (Also, we are not dealing here with "natural" healing, i.e. via doctors and medicine, etc.; and we are certainly not talking about any kind of healing that the devil may be able to achieve.)

On top of all this, we should remember that the greatest "healing" Jesus ever did, or does today, is the full and complete "healing" of the soul, in regeneration.  Many of those whose bodies were completely healed by the Lord Jesus Christ in His first advent, never had their hearts made new, (and, because of this, they remained in a state of enmity with and against God).

It is hard to imagine, but it is probably true, that some of the people who cried-out for Jesus' crucifixion, were only able to speak because He (Jesus) had restored to them their voices.  The same could be said, of parents of children who had been healed by Christ--now, they called out for His murder, blood, and death.

What can explain such rage and fury against One so good, so holy, so righteous, so kind, so powerful, and so benevolent?  Answer: a deep-seated hatred for Him, based in the fact that He is the Messiah of God's elect church; and that He is the one and only Son of the Living God.

Healing of the body is a wonderful thing; but healing of the sin-possessed soul is a greater blessing (by far).

So, if you or yours have ever experienced a true miraculous healing done by God--know that it was brokered through the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity.  Neither the Father nor the Holy Spirit do this work independently of the direct mediation of the Messiah.

What will our response be: a heart bursting with thanksgiving, or one crying out for the murder of the Son of God?  Such is the extreme nature of fallen human beings.  We are either Christ-lovers, or we are Christ-haters.

All those who are born again, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, are Christ-lovers.  Let us all be counted amongst this august company that makes up the redeemed and elect church of the one true and only God.

"And [Jesus] said to the woman, 'Your faith has saved you; go in peace,' " (Lk. 7:50/ESV).
