Our Lord Jesus Christ and Genghis Khan

Our Lord Jesus Christ and Genghis Khan

OK; so just last night I (inadvertently) came across Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's, "Jesus Christ and Genghis Khan" comment.  Today, I checked to see if it was real, or AI-generated.  (It is being reported to be authentic.)  Then, I saw the prime minister's apology.  I accept his apology. . . .

Still, it dawns on me, that this is an interesting comparison: our Lord Jesus, and Genghis Khan.  Mr. Khan was apparently quite a Chinese warrior, living in the late 12th/early 13th centuries.  But, compared to our Lord Jesus Christ, Genghis was quite "tame" as a military man.

Mr. Netanyahu explained that he was quoting the American historian Will Durant, when he (the prime minister) said what he did, about the Lord Jesus Christ and Genghis Khan. . . . If Will Durant really believed what he was quoted as penning, he (Durant) had no idea of Whom he was writing (with regard to our Lord Jesus).

Ironically, it is our Lord Jesus, and not any Genghis Khan-type ruler or warrior, Who is conquering, not only the countries of the Middle East, but the whole world.  Christ is the One and Only Conquering King of all.  Here is how He is described, in Rev. 6:2: "And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer," (ESV).

It was encouraging, to hear Mr. Netanyahu refer to Jesus, as "Christ."  This is a good thing; and it will not be long till all of us know this appellation (of "Christ") to be true of Jesus. Even if all of us on Earth today do not live to see the final advent of the Lord Jesus, it is just a few days, months, or years till we will all die, and face (and know) The Truth Himself: our Lord Jesus Christ.

People should be careful about their language, when it comes to our Blessed Messiah; but they should be especially-mindful about the way they view Him, understand Him, and believe in Him and love Him.

Christ is not One to be taken lightly; or to be misunderstood.  Will Durant's statement, (assuming it is not taken out of context, etc.), betrays a real ignorance of the Christ of Glory, the Son of the Living God. . . . He is gentle, yes; and sweet--but He is also strong and true.  The Lord Jesus warned the Jewish religious leaders that they would experience His (Christ's) vengeful wrath in their (the Jews') lifetime, (Matt. 26:64); and they did.  We may read about this vengeance, in Lk. 21:22; and the Book of Revelation is the chronicle of the fulfillment of this.  Anyone that thinks that hundreds of thousands of Jews being crucified in Jerusalem in and around 70 AD is not the work of a powerful Sovereign Messiah, does not understand the God of Truth, the God of the Bible, the God of the Gospel of grace.

In reality, Genghis Khan and all of the rest of us (all put together) are "small potatoes" compared with our Lord Jesus.  Khan is dead/Christ is alive.  Khan conquered some land/Jesus conquers the entire universe.

Let us who are alive today take advantage of the grace of God in Jesus Christ, before it is too late.  In this light, here is what our Savior says to us, in Matt. 11:28-30: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light," (ESV).
